343 Guilty Spark
343 Guilty Spark was initially contracted out by the House Geek Systemyards in late 2004, with the intent of a light, mobile Wardriving unit, but one versatile enough to be used in other contexts. The result, however, was not optimal for the former purpose; too heavy to be easily carried, too hot to be used for extended periods, lacking battery life, and finicky, incompatible Centrino wireless made Guilty Spark less than preferable for Wardriving expeditions.
Preliminary tests saw 343 Guilty Spark relegated to duty as an auxiliary LAN system, resulting in costly repairs due to spillage, breakage, and other damage. The machine sat, largely in dis-use, until late 2005.
After the unexpected death of Talyn, the true worth of Spark became apparent. After being outfitted with an additional gigabyte of memory (beyond the stock 512MB), Spark took over permanent desktop duties for Oz K. Fodrotski, and has performed admirably at any task given it. Spark's only malfunction since was the unexpected failure of the stock 60GB HDD; with a freezer, an external HDD, a piece of imaging software and a 120GB replacement, Spark continued to operate.
Spark was officially superseded by Radh1ka in February of 2007; he was renamed 2401 Penitent Tangent at that point, and was temporarily outfitted with OSX86 10.4.8, followed by Ubuntu Linux (Beta 7.04).
