'''The House Geek Switch''' was a D-Link DES-1024 10/100 Fast Ethernet switch, and was a direct result of the free and easy money present in the Golden Age of LANning. 24 ports full of awesome, the switch was considered the only lasting and substantial relic remaining from the Golden Age. The effort to collect funds for and purchase the switch was led by Hobbes, then director of the Department of LANning Affairs. At one point in the Golden Age, a motion was brought forth to claim The Switch as belonging to The House by imprinting/spray painting the logo on to it, and despite being seconded and carried, the motion was never followed through.

As of 10-3-06, the HGS resided at the Blood Gulch. In 2008 and later, it was part of the network infrastructure at the Stargazer.
